Replacing the SL200 Battery

The lithium battery installed in the SL200 should last for over three years. The SL200Log software will indicate when a battery needs replacing by flashing the low battery light in the Logger Status window. The SL200 needs a CR2032, 3Volt lithium coin type battery.

Removing the battery destroys the real time clock information and any temperature and alarm data currently stored in the logger. Make sure to retrieve and save any logged data before removing the battery. Also make sure to set the SL200 real time clock after replacing the battery.

In addition, removing the battery for a prolonged period of time may destroy the user information, calibration data and calibration passwords. If this occurs, the SL200Log software will restore these values to their defaults:

User Information:  SL200 Data Logger

Calibration Data:  Uncalibrated

Calibration Password: No calibration password (Empty password).

You will need to recalibrate the unit to achieve an accuracy higher than +/- 2C (3.6F).

To replace the battery, follow these steps:

1. Place the SL200 on a flat surface so that the START/CHECK button and the OK and ALARM LEDs are face down.

2. Remove the two screws at the bottom of the unit.

3. Carefully remove the bottom part of the case.

4. Carefully remove the unit from the case. Make sure not to turn the top of the case over, as you may lose the START/CHECK button assembly.

5. Place a flat head screwdriver under the bottom of the battery. Gently lift the battery up with the screwdriver and slide the battery out of the holder. Do not lift the battery too high because this may break the top tab of the holder

6. Insert the new battery into the holder ensuring that the + side of the battery is facing up and the – side if facing down. Be careful not to bend or break the green LED.

7. Place the unit back into the top part of the case, ensuring that the LEDs fit into the LED holes.

8. Replace the bottom part of the box, and secure with the two screws.
